Colormark Prüfkörper
The "classic" material testing of plastics has been derived from the testing of metals and modified plastics, for example, the modulus of elasticity in the tensile measurement and others. However, plastics have a product group on "stand-alone" properties that can’t be mapped or patchy with conventional test equipment and test specimens of metals or other material groups. Thus, a customer of the masterbatch manufacturer can assess the dispersion, the color strength and brilliance in front of his own mold trials, injection-molded test specimens are usually with each newly developed color masterbatch patterns in granular form, also the producer delivered to the customer. The customer now screened from the masterbatch in their own process, injection molding or extrusion parts. The moldings produced and delivered to the sample specimen, often in rectangular plate form with 2mm wall thickness, form the basis for the customer's approval of the developed masterbatch setting of suppliers. But there are additional properties of a plastic molding, which can be crucial in the overall assessment. In order to keep the effort and the necessary creation of specimens within narrow limits, the idea was developed as many plastic typical characteristics affecting color perception using to represent only one specimen.
Such properties are:
- Consideration of different wall thicknesses on the molded part.
- Overall depth of color and opacity of the color at the predetermined wall thickness of the part of the customer
- Material accumulations of ribs on the component
- Assessment of possible locally different sink marks on the From part
- Color effects at different sheens / Narbungsoberflächen and the effect of the patterned shade
- Shrinkage and warpage of the molding - dimensional stability of the molded component
- Assessment of functional properties of the component, for example, Function of snaps
- Assessment of load cycle numbers of film hinges
The development result together with the University Reutlingen is the „Colormark-Prüfkörper“.
